CATALINA STATE PARK- [click here] This scenic desert park offers camping, hiking, picnicking, bicycling, horseback riding, plant and wildlife viewing, and an archaeological site. It encompasses 5,493 acres at elevations near 3,000 feet.
TOHONO CHUL PARK- [click here] A 50-acre park featuring a large variety of birds, three acre display of arid region plants, animals, geological history of the Santa Catalina Mountains, demonstration gardens, gift shops and tea room and garden café.
SABINO CANYON- [click here] A spectacular riparian area; take a 45 minute narrated tram, or walk the 3.8 mile scenic creek side trails of Sabino Canyon.
CENTER FOR CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY- [click here] One of the leading photographic centers in the world. It houses photographers' archives including Ansel Adams, Richard Avedon and Edward Weston. There is a collection of more than fifty thousand photographs, galleries a library and research facilities.

SONORA DESERT MUSEUM- [click here] Called by the New York Times "…the most distinctive zoo in the
United States. An outdoor museum of animals and plant life of the Sonoran
Desert; includes mammals, fish, snakes, insects, a walk-in hummingbird aviary,
cave and earth history exhibit and a grassland exhibit.
KARTCHNER CAVERN STATE PARK- [click here] There is a new state park called Kartchner Cavern State Park. It is 40 miles east of Tucson off I-10. Kartchner caves were discovered in 1974 but have only opened to the public in the fall of 1999. The cave is a living cave meaning that the formations are still growing. OLD TUCSON- [click here] An active movie location and remains open during film production so visitors can enjoy a behind the scenes look at western movie production. Old Tucson provides live shows such as shootouts, bank robberies music and dancing.
SAN XAVIER DEL BAC MISSION- [click here] An active mission church located on the Tohono O'odham (Papago) Indian Reservation just renovated; founded by Jesuit missionary Eusebio Francisco Kino in 1692; an excellent example of colonial period baroque architecture
COLOSSAL CAVE- [click here] One of the world's largest dry caverns; famous robber's hideout; and dramatic rock formations of stalactites and stalagmites.
PIMA AIR MUSEUM- [click here] See 80 years of aviation history. Over 140 vintage and current aircraft on display including a scale model of the 1903 Kittyhawk.
SAGUARO NATIONAL PARK (east & west)- [click here] The giant cacti of the Saguaro Desert surround Tucson.

MADERA CANYON- [click here] Bird watching-hummingbird mecca
NOGALES, MEXICO- [click here] The closest Mexican town, just 65 miles South of Tucson. Good for shopping food and a bit of culture.
TUBAC- [click here] Tubac was at one time the site of a Spanish Presidio built to protect nearby missions from hostile Indians. Today it is known as a place where art and history meet. A good place to fine Indian arts and crafts, pottery, jewelry, paintings and batiks.
TOMBSTONE- [click here] Site of the OK Corral Gunfight; Boot Hill; Crystal Palace: shops, gunfights and historical buildings.
PATAGONIA SONOITA CREEK PRESERVE- [click here] Spreading 350 acres along Sonoita Creek, this Nature Conservancy preserve includes one of the richest riparian habitats in the region.
MOUNT LEMMON- [click here] A winding, paved road takes you from the desert floor to the dramatic ponderosa pine region of Arizona; wayside stops, picnic areas, good hiking and ski lifts. The ski season is from mid December to the end of March. It is the southernmost ski area in the United States.
KITT PEAK NATIONAL OBSERVATORY- [click here] Site of the world's largest concentration of optical telescopes atop the Baboquivari Mountains; visitor center, exhibits, models, film showings and picnic area.
TITAN MISSILE MUSEUM- [click here] See Titan II Missiles from the "cold War" era of the 1960's.
THE AMERIND FOUNDATION- [click here] A private, nonprofit research facility and museum devoted to Native American culture housing a superb Western are and artifact collection.
